INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

JOURNÉE DES DROITS DES FEMMES

I say yes to International Women's Day, but no to boxes of chocolates and red roses on that day!

Let me introduce myself: I'm Nathalie Bonhoure, founder of Grungemama, and on this March 8th, I wanted to talk to you about freedom, liberation, womanhood, strength, and courage. As you can imagine, as a business owner, woman, and mother of two, I've had to overcome many obstacles, move mountains, and make my voice heard. So today, I wanted to tell us all: let's stop being so self-conscious. No more pressure, no more "I should be more this or more that," we are perfect or not… and that's perfectly fine.

The point here is to relieve oneself of guilt.

This is about letting go of guilt and sharing with you that nothing is perfect, and that behind what you see of me on social media, there are days when doubt creeps in, when I'm afraid, and when running Grungemama all by myself seems impossible. And yet, thanks to you, I'm here. Grungemama has existed since 2015. I created this company wanting to express my vision of women and their superpowers, always with the desire to help them shine, so that they never doubt themselves or their worth again.

By imagining a brand made for you, but also by you, it's in this idea that the community has taken on its full meaning. Exchanging ideas through this blog, but also through Instagram, has helped me create this strong bond with you.

A poem to talk about us

It was while thinking of all these everyday superheroes that I wrote these few lines. I hope you enjoy them.

Yesterday, when I was born, it turned out that the word femininity was applied to me.

So, having gone through life, I decided to take responsibility, to cry, to hate, to shine, to flood, to brave.

Yesterday, when I was born, the word femininity was placed upon me.

So this morning, I wanted to say more.

To talk about myself and all those around me, to speak of fear and terror, to speak of longing and dizziness.

To say that it is normal to doubt and to hope.

To say that we want ever more beautiful skies.

Orange balls in sight that, on the sea, tell the story of our lives.

Scorching, boiling suns that are not pretending.

We want to feel for real, to suffer too much and laugh a lot.

Yesterday, when I was born, the word femininity was placed upon me.

So this morning, it is them I am thinking of, the friends of complicated nights, the women of my life, those with whom I have braved, those whom I have had as examples, those who accompany me closely, from afar, those who wipe away sorrows, those who put the pieces back together, those who guess thoughts.

Yesterday, when I was born, the word femininity was placed upon me.

Together, every day, we make a difference. Thank you to each and every one of you, stay the course, shine bright. Grungemama will always be there, International Women's Day or not.
