WOMEN'S RIGHTS DAY

I say yes to International Women's Rights Day, but no to boxes of chocolate and red roses on that day!

I Say Yes to International Women's Rights Day, But No to Chocolate Boxes and Red Roses on This Day!

Let me introduce myself: I am Nathalie Bonhoure, founder of the company Grungemama, and on this March 8th, I wanted to talk to you about freedom, empowerment, women, strength, and courage. As you can imagine, as a business owner, a woman, and a mother of two children, I have had to overcome obstacles, move mountains, and make my voice heard. So today, I wanted to remind us: let’s cut ourselves some slack. No more pressures, no more "I should be more this or that," we are perfect—or not... and that’s perfectly fine.

IT’S ABOUT LETTING GO OF GUILT

It’s about letting go of guilt and understanding that nothing is perfect. Behind what you see of me on social media, there are days when doubt creeps in, when fear takes over, and when carrying Grungemama alone seems impossible. And yet, thanks to you, I am here. Grungemama has been around since 2015. I created this company to express my vision of women and their superpowers, always with the desire to make them shine so they never again doubt themselves and their worth.

By imagining a brand made for you but also by you, the community has taken on a whole new meaning. Engaging through this blog, but also through Instagram, has helped me create this strong bond with you.

A POEM TO SPEAK ABOUT US

Thinking about all these everyday superheroes, I wrote these few lines. I hope they will resonate with you.

Yesterday, when I was born, they placed the word femininity upon me.

So, throughout my life, I chose to embrace, to cry, to hate, to shine, to flood, to defy.

Yesterday, when I was born, they placed the word femininity upon me.

So this morning, I wanted to say more.

To talk about myself and all those around me, to speak of fear and anxieties, to name the absence and the dizziness.

To say that it is normal to doubt and to hope.

To say that we long for ever more beautiful skies.

For orange globes on the horizon that tell our stories over the sea.

For burning, boiling suns that do not pretend.

We want to truly feel, to suffer deeply and to laugh even more.

Yesterday, when I was born, they placed the word femininity upon me.

So this morning, I think of them—the friends of difficult nights, the women of my life, those with whom I have fought, those I have looked up to, those who stand by me, near or far, those who wipe away tears, those who mend broken pieces, those who read minds.

Yesterday, when I was born, they placed the word femininity upon me.

All together, every day, we make a difference. Thank you to each and every one of you—stay strong, shine bright. Grungemama will always be here, whether it’s International Women’s Rights Day or not.
